Nestling beside the West Dart River, in 60 acres of private grounds at the very heart of the Dartmoor National Park, the hotel is reminiscent of a bygone age of opulence with the added extravagance of today's little luxuries. Built in 1794 as a coaching inn at the opening of the trans-moor turnpike, the property was originally called 'The Saracen's Head'. It only gained its present name in the early 1900s when the modern road was completed. The comfortable lounges, with log fires and leather armchairs, are the ideal place to relax after a day on the moor.
